KooNewYork presents choice classical and contemporary art selections for its anniversary. Highlights include a recently discovered early 18th century rare Buddhist Pantheon Underdrawing attesting to an exceptional master monk painter. With few comparables in Korea or the West, it is an important addition to Buddhist painting scholarship. A painting of Chungyangsa Temple Amid Diamond Mountains by famed artist Chong Son (Kyumjae, 1676-1759) and a superb 19th century Pair of Bamboo-Decorated Chests will also be on view.
Featured contemporary art includes ceramics by Lee In-chin (b.1957), Lee Young-Jae (b.1951); photographs by Bae Bien-U (b.1950), Chun Seachang (b.1978); and introducing ‘burned incense’ drawings by Park Jihyun (b.1970). _______________________________________________________________________________________
